BANGKOK -- Gay teen romancer "The Love of Siam" swept the Bangkok Critics Awards, collecting six trophies on Tuesday including best picture, plus helmer and screenplay kudos for Chukiat Sakweerakul.

Sinjai Hongthai won actress honors for her role as a mother who discovers that her son is gay. Chermal Boonyasak won for supporting actress. Pic also picked up a laurel for score.

The boxing-gangster film "Chaiya" won two acting awards for Akara Amattayakul and Sonthaya Chitmanee. Chankit Chamnivikaipong won cinematography for arthouse favorite "Ploy," from helmer Pen-ek Ratanaruang.

"Siam" recently won best picture at the Supannahongsa Awards, organized by the Federation of National Film Assns. of Thailand (Daily Variety, Feb. 19).
