BERLIN -- Fortissimo Films donated $50,000 to Martin Scorsese's World Cinema Foundation during a special reception held yesterday at the fest.

Created by Scorsese, the nonprofit org champions the preservation and restoration of films around the world.

Guillermo Del Toro, Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu, Bertrand Tavernier and Wim Wenders, among many other international filmmakers, sit on the foundation's advisory board.

Fortissimo has also announced Japanese and French distribution deals for Kiyoshi Kurosawa-helmed "Tokyo Sonata."  The deals were secured by Fortissimo's co-producing partner Entertainment Farm

Pic will be distributed in Japan through PiX, a subsidiary of Avex Entertainment.
