HONG KONG – Audiences at the upcoming Berlinale will get a front row view of Vietnam, not through the fast developing country's contemporary cinema, but through the eyes of American filmmakers.
The Special Berlinale Series will screen eight movies about the Vietnam War – which the Vietnamese refer to as 'the American War' – made between 1968 and 1978.
“War at Home” – The Vietnam War in U.S. Cinema series was organized to mark the 40th anniversary of the 1968 Socialist Student Association which met in Berlin for its 'Vietnam Congress' and was one of the first sparks of a summer of revolutionary activity in Europe.
The film program complements a series of events accompanying the exhibition ‘'68 - Brennpunkt Berlin’ organized by the Federal Centre for Political Education at Amerika Haus in Berlin.
